L (Learning)

On Tuesday 17 December at 19:00 and on Wednesday 18 December at 21:30 we will screen in cinema Utopia the film L (Greece, colour, 2011, 87 min) by Babis Makridis. The film is in the original EL version with Εnglish subtitles. Suitable for children over 13 years.

Synopsis

L begins with an ode to being a bear and ends with an ode to the sea. What happens in between constitutes one of the more original, willfully bizarre films of the year.

A man lives in his car. He's 40 and separated from his wife and kids, who live in a different car. They meet in parking lots. A professional driver, the man delivers honey to a narcoleptic man and often dreams of his friend, who was killed when a hunter mistook him for a bear. Frequently late delivering honey, the man is fired, and his driving skills are questioned. Thrust into existential uncertainty, he abandons "car life" and joins a rogue motorbike gang.

What did the press say

Cowriter/director Babis Makridis and cowriter Efthimis Filippou (Dogtooth, Alps) propel us into a funky, surreal world of deadpan absurdism. Beneath the postmodern detachment lies a quiet human struggle. Facing absurd existences, these characters are trying: to be better drivers, to be better bears. Even the score, a flawed rendition of Moonlight Sonata, is trying to be better.

Η Ελληνική Κινηματογραφική Λέσχη Λουξεμβούργου θα προβάλει την Τρίτη 17 Δεκεμβρίου στις 19:00 και την Τετάρτη 18 Δεκεμβρίου στις 21:30 στον κινηματογράφο Utopia την ταινία L (Ελλάδα, 2011, 87' , έγχρωμη, ελληνικά) του Μπάμπη Μακρίδη. Η ταινία θα προβληθεί με αγγλικούς υποτίτλους και είναι κατάλληλη για παιδιά από 13 ετών.

Λίγα λόγια για την ταινία

Ένας άντρας ζει στα λίγα τετραγωνικά ενός αυτοκινήτου, όπου κοιμάται, δουλεύει και συναντά τα παιδιά του. Δουλειά του είναι να μεταφέρει το καλύτερο μέλι της αγοράς στο νευρωτικό με την ακρίβεια αφεντικό του. Όταν ένας καινούργιος οδηγός-μεταφορέας παίρνει τη δουλειά του, ο λιγομίλητος μεσήλικος θα πρέπει να πάρει κρίσιμες αποφάσεις για το μέλλον του, το οποίο κρύβει νέες μηχανοκίνητες προκλήσεις.

Πρωταγωνιστούν: Άρης Σερβετάλης, Μάκης Παπαδημητρίου, Γιάννης Μποσταντζόγλου, Ελευθέριος Ματθαίου, Νότα Τσερνιάφσκι.

Η L (Learning) είναι η πρώτη ελληνική ταινία που επιλέχθηκε στο επίσημο διαγωνιστικό του Sundance Film Festival (19 - 29 Ιανουαρίου 2012) όπου έγινε και η επίσημη παγκόσμια πρεμιέρα της. Η ταινία επιλέχθηκε να συμμετάσχει επίσης και στο Διεθνές Διαγωνιστικό Πρόγραμμα (Tiger Awards) του Διεθνούς Κινηματογραφικού Φεστιβάλ του Rotterdam (25 Ιανουαρίου – 5 Φεβρουαρίου 2012), όπου έκανε την ευρωπαϊκή πρεμιέρα της. Είναι η πρώτη μεγάλου μήκους ταινία του Μπάμπη Μακρίδη, του οποίου η μικρού μήκους ταινία “Ο Τελευταίος Φακίρης” απέσπασε το βραβείο πρωτοεμφανιζόμενου σκηνοθέτη στο Φεστιβάλ Μικρού Μήκους της Δράμας το 2005.

Résumé

Un quadragénaire, séparé de sa femme et ses enfants, vit dans une voiture. Sa femme et ses enfants vivent dans une autre voiture. L'homme apporte régulièrement du miel à un narcoleptique, et retrouve souvent son ami, attaqué par un chasseur qui l'a pris pour un ours.
